Cats food

There are a lot of foods that cats can eat, including:

  • Meat

As for feeding cats, they can eat some of the food that humans eat.

They are able to eat most of the cooked meat, even if it is mixed with red tomato sauce, meat broth, etc.

It does not matter if the meat is boiled or grilled, but it is better to be well cooked in order to avoid the possibility of the cat being infected with the types of bacteria that spread in this meat.

Although wild cats are accustomed to eating raw meat and even the carcasses of dead animals for days, the meat that humans consume is more dangerous to them, and the reason is that it contains types of bacteria resulting from livestock food and the environments of industrial farms in which humans live, which cats are not accustomed to.

  • Chicken and fish

Cats also eat chicken, as it is an important source of protein, and chicken bones are useful for cats, as they do not mind eating them, as they are easier to break compared to the bones of sheep, cows, or others. Fish is a very popular food for cats.

It is recommended that it be cooked before serving it to them, as is the case with meat, chicken, liver, and fish. It gives the cat materials and nutrients that are very important for its health, such as iodine and phosphorous, as well as vitamins such as vitamin A, vitamin E, and vitamin D, as well as providing it with protein.

Although domestic cats have a strong preference for fish, this does not necessarily imply that canned tuna and sardines are the best food for them.

Wild cats often live in dry environments where it is very rare to eat fish, and if domestic cats eat fish as their main food, they will be deficient in many types of minerals and vitamins, so it should not be overfed to cats, but it is useful when it is presented to them in a reasonable amount.

  • Dairy products

Cats can feed on milk, cheese, and all dairy products at all stages of their lives, but contrary to the prevailing belief, it is not considered very good food for the cat, and in fact, it may be dangerous in some cases. Milk and what is derived from it are useful for young cats, especially in the first eight weeks of their lives before they are weaned.

But when it grows and matures, eating milk and its derivatives may cause them problems.

The ability of her digestive system to absorb lactose (the sugar in milk) is greatly reduced, and she may become allergic to milk, which may cause indigestion, diarrhea, and Dehydration, and all of this will negatively affect the health of cats.

In fact, the only liquid that cats need to drink is water, and if the appropriate quantities of it are provided to them, they will not need to drink anything else.

Obesity in cats

It is necessary to pay attention that the cat does not become obese, as this may affect its health to a bad degree, as is the case with humans, and It is necessary to provide useful and appropriate food for cats, but in reasonable quantities.

The goal is to provide them with the elements that their body needs and not fatten them, and therefore the cat should not be fattened, either. Food that contains large amounts of fat and the fat and oils that provide it must be saved.

It is useful to organise the cat's eating times so that his digestion process is regular.

Obesity is one of the common problems in cats in first world countries, just like in humans, and similarly, obesity causes the same risks in humans as it does in cats, as it threatens them with heart disease and a decrease in their lifespan.

Types of food for animals

Living organisms obtain their food in many and varied ways.

They are divided mainly into two types: autotrophic organisms that make their own food, which are represented by plants that obtain energy from sunlight through photosynthesis, and non-autotrophic organisms, It includes all animals.

Animals have many ways of obtaining their food, some of which live parasitically on others and their food.

Some of them eat dead and decomposing organisms, including herbivores that feed on plants and carnivores that prey on other animals.

Cats are real carnivores; they only feed on the meat of other living creatures, and although they may eat vegetarian food sometimes, they lack the functional organs equipped to digest it and extract nutrients from it in an effective manner, and they desperately need what is available in meat from food of all kinds.
